3. What is a TRK file?

A TRK, pronounced "Track" file, is a proprietary format for storing digital audio samples. A TRK can contain up to 128 samples, as well as other MIDI and timing information. The TRK was developed to provide maximum flexibility in a real-time performance situation. This allows for auto-beat matching, and other powerful functions. Mixman software can shift the playback tempo of the TRK file when it is loaded so that any two track files in different tempos can automatically sound good together.
