Computer System Information1. What brand of computer are you using?2. What operating system are you using? 3. What type of processor is in your computer? 4. What speed is that processor? 5. How much RAM is in your computer? 6. What type of soundcard are you using? 7. What type of video card are you using? 8. What version of DirectX are you running? Users can access answers to most of the questions one of two ways, either through viewing device manager or running dxdiag.exe To reach the Device Manager, right click the My Computer icon, and select properties, this will launch the system properties window. The default tab is labeled "General" here is where you can answer questions 2,3,5,6 and 7. (2) What Operating System are you using? The OS version and edition are included in the system information in the top right hand side of the General Tab. (3) The Processor Type, and amount of memory (5) is included in the computer information in the bottom right hand side of the General Tab The best place to confirm the Processor speed (4) is to look at your manual or information that came with the computer or the list the make and model of the computer. (6) and (7) To determine what type of sound card you have click on the devices tab (next one over from the General tab). Make sure that the "view devices by type" radio button is filled in. Click on the + sign next to Display Adaptors for your video card information. Click on the + sign next to Sound, Video and Game Controllers for your sound card information. 8) To run the dxdiag.exe, do the following: From the start menu select find, and type in: dxdiag.exe If dxdiag.exe is present it will appear and you can launch it (double click) from the find window To confirm the version of DirectX you are using and to confirm the processor speed require different steps. 1) From your start menu select Find and then select files or folders. 2) Type in dxdiag and select find 3) Dxdiag.exe should appear in the results box. Double click it dxdiag.exe. 4) The System tab (the default open tab) will give you information about your system. The Direct X version is the last entry of the system information. 5) You can also click on the display and sound tabs to obtain information about your video and sound card. |
